Your Brand Should Have a YouTube Channel
We’ve talked previously about video platforms and why you need one for your business, but the reality is you need to use YouTube in tandem with these other methods. After all, it’s the second biggest search engine in the world after Google and should play a part in every marketing strategy out there.
Of course, like with all of the social media platforms that you use to promote your brand, YouTube has it’s own algorithm that you must abide by in order to to get the most out of it.
In this blog post, we’re giving you 5 tips that you can use to get more views on your YouTube channel so that you can get more brand awareness.
Let’s begin!
1. Eye-Catching Thumbnails
Your video thumbnail is the first thing users see. This means a good first impression is essential. You’ll want to put time into creating your own custom thumbnails so that they drive viewers towards your video content.
When it comes to creating thumbnails, consider the colours you’ll use. Examples featuring blue, orange, green or yellow as the main colour stand out more. This is because they are so separate from the colours that YouTube itself uses (red, black and white), so they actively draw the eye to them as opposed to blending in with the surroundings.
2. Tasty Titles
Titles can make or break a video. Generally speaking, a good title will give a basic idea of what will be covered and how it will benefit the target audience. However, there are little tweaks that you make to this formula that will further improve the chances of your video being watched.
Brackets featured at the end of a title make a massive difference to the click-through rate on YouTube videos. The use of numbers is also a big winner, whether that be in relation to the number of steps a video is going to run through, or even just a year. The amount of characters makes an impact on how appealing your titles are too, with the sweet spot being anything less than 50 characters.
3. Optimise Content for Comments, Likes and Subscribes
Audience engagement is super important when it comes to getting more views. Videos that viewers interact with get ranked higher in YouTube’s algorithm. This means that every comment, like and subscriber that your videos get are worth just as much, if not more than actual views.
Adding a simple call-to-action at the end of your videos will make a huge difference as it will push people to take action and organically boost your content.
4. Make the Most of End Screens
YouTube’s built-in end screen feature enables you to suggest something for your viewers to watch next in order to keep them on your channel for longer. The way to make the most of this is simple – just find one of your videos that has had a lot of views in the last 90 days, and then link to that a video that someone would want to watch after that. By suggesting related content on your end screens, you significantly increase the likelihood that people will continue watching.
5. Embed in Blog Posts
You will have noticed throughout all of our own blog posts that we always embed our YouTube videos somewhere. Embedding your videos on your website will not only improve how those videos are ranked on YouTube itself, but any views that come from people clicking through from your website will be high quality and more likely to take action that is beneficial to your brand as a whole.
These five tips are really just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many things you can do to get more views and grow your YouTube channel which will increase your brand awareness. What we’ve covered here to day are things you can take action will quickly and easily so you can hit the ground running, but there are other methods you can look into that will be just as effective in conquering the algorithm, although they might require a bit more research on your part.
